Final Video Story

For this story I decided to tackle fast fashion and sustainability in the fashion industry. My inspiration for this video story was to be sort of like a political ad, while I, instead of attacking my competitor, attack fast fashion. This is why I chose to have mysterious music playing in the background. I lowered the volume of the music through audition, exported it as an mp3 and imported in into Premiere Pro. I used the staggering skill we learned in the tutorial to stagger each clip, one after another, in a staircase like position, to get each clip to play after the next, with no stops or black space. This provided a seamless transition. I found the music on creative commons, and made it play the entirety of the video. At the end, when I stop speaking, the music still plays in the background, which I thought would give the viewers a chance to sit with the information they heard. I decided to make my video exactly one minute and thirty seconds, which is a popular length for a political ad. My idea started as a talk on how to be more sustainable, and evolved into an attack on the fast fashion industry. The more I researched the angrier I got. I used the articles “WHAT IS SUSTAINABLE FASHION?” as well as “The future of the fashion industry requires innovative circular systems” to fuel my research. I filmed all of the videos by myself, including the shots of the closet and the sky and trees. The video of nature that I filmed really felt like a beautiful homage to the nature that we are putting at risk when we fund fast fashion. I continued to read statistics over this beautiful video so that the viewer can really think about the repercussions of this industry. Because I got no feedback for this (this assignment is late due to having an incomplete mark in this course) I decided to keep everything the same as the draft!
